FOLLOWING A BUNCH OF DEER
By S. C. Turnbo
In recounting incidents of hunting while he lived on Georges Creek in
Marion County, Ark., Mr. John B. Hudson related this account.
"The only bunch of deer I have seen to amount to much were 30 which I seen in the hills just east of Georges Creek. I and Phillip B. Wilson were together hunting. Each of us were afoot and we both wore red shirts which seemed to attract the deers attention. They were traveling and we followed along behind them. As the deer went along they would all stop ever now and then and turn round and look at us and stomp their feet against the ground, then turn and go on. Among the bunch was a fine buck with a heavy set of horns. We shot 5 times at the deer but failed to bring one down."
