A BRIEF BIT OF HISTORY
By S. C. Turnbo
On the 17th of October, 1903, I met Mr. Isaac Hudson at Peel, Ark., and who related to me a few items of interest.
Mr. Hudson said that he was a son of Tom C. Hudson who many years ago lived
at the mouth of Georges Creek five miles from Yellville, Arkansas. Isaac
said that he was born In the creek bottom on the north side of Crooked Creek
immediately below the mouth of Georges Creek on the 17th of October, 1843.
The cabin where his father lived and where he was born stood near the bank
of the creek opposite the spout spring. This land is known now as the Fate
Davenport place, and Mr. Hudson says that his father cleared and cultivated
part of this bottom as early as 1833. He also says that his father, John
Tabor and Frank Hudson were close friends and hunted together for bear and
deer in the hills of Crooked Creek on many occasions. "My father,"
continues Mr. Hudson, "was born in Kentucky in 1811 and died in Barry
County, Mo., in February 1902, aged 92 years."
